1. Red-Crested Cardinal

The red-crested cardinal is a songbird that belongs to the family of tanagers (Thraupidae). The avarage length of bird species is upto 19 cm and the average weight is between 30 to 35 grams. It is also known as the Argentine cardinal and has a distinctive red head and crest. The rest of the body is black or grey. The dietary habits are omnivores in nature and feed on plant seeds, berries, fruits, and insects. The avarage lifespan of a red-crested cardinal is upto 15 years.

2. ‘I’iwi (Scarlet Honeycreeper)

The ‘I’iwi pronounced, ee-EE-vee is a species of Hawaiian honeycreeper and native land bird in the Hawaiian Islands. The large and nectarivorous honeycreeper is upto 6 inches in length.  The name of the bird species comes from the bright red plumage on its body. The population of the bird is decreasing and it is listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).  The average weight of ‘I’iwi is upto 0.64 ounces and the total wingspan is between 7 to 8 inches. 3. Red Junglefowl

The Red junglefowl is a tropical bird that belongs to the family Phasianidae. Initially, it was known as Bankiva or Bankiva Fowl and was beloved to be the primary ancestor of the domestic chicken. The body length of Red Junglefowl is between 42 to 75 cm in length and the average weight is between 485 to 1450 grams. The avarage lifespan of Red junglefowl is between 10 to 30 years in the wild. The dietary habits are omnivores in nature and feed on fruits, seeds, crops, leaves, roots, and tubers. They have also been seen feeding on arthropods, other invertebrates, and vertebrates such as small lizards.

4. Common Redpoll

The common redpoll is one of the brown birds with a red head also known as the mealy redpoll and belongs to the finch family. These small grey birds with white bellies breed in the regions of Arctic redpoll and also in habitats with thickets or shrubs. The body length ranges between 11.5 to 14 centimeters and the average weight is between 12 to 16 grams. The average lifespan for a common redpoll is between 2 and 3 years.  The primary diet consists of mostly seeds and other vegetable matter and feeds on catkins, seeds, and buds of willows, alders, and birches, small conifer seeds, also seeds of many weeds and grasses.

It is called by different names such as Avadavat, Red Munia, Tiger Finch, Red Waxbill, Bombay Avadavat, Amaduvade, Scarlet Amandava, and Indian Strawberry. The primary diet includes fruit flies, ant pupae, small, freshly molted mealworms, and termites. The avarage lifespan of the Red avadavat is between 8 to 17 years in captivity.

6. Scarlet Ibis

The scarlet ibis is a red bird species that belongs to the family Threskiornithidae. The boy’s length ranges upto 75 cm (30 in) and his total wingspan is upto 30 cm (1 ft). The primary diet includes crustaceans, mollusks, fish, insects, frogs, and small snakes. These long legged birds breed mostly in regions of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Yellow-Billed Cardinal is one of the popular red-headed birds in Hawaii that belongs to the genus Paroaria and the family Thraupidae. The bird breeds in regions of  Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Uruguay, and northern Argentina and has been introduced on the island of Hawai’i. It looks very similar to a red-crested cardinal and can be easily confused with its appearance. The body length of a yellow-billed cardinal is upto 16.5 cm in length and the average weight is between 17 to 24·5 grams. The Northern Cardinal is one of the popular birds in North Carolina mostly breeds in the regions of  North and Central America. The body length ranges between 21 to 23.5 cm in length and the average weight is between 33.6 to 65 grams. The average lifespan of a northern cardinal is upto 15 years in the wild. The dietary habit is herbivores in nature and feeds on the seeds of grasses and corn, fruit (grapes and berries), buds, sunflower seeds, and insects. These birds of kauai and group of cardinals is known by different names such as “college”, “deck”, “radiance”, “conclave”, and “Vatican” of cardinals. The apapane is a Hawaiian honeycreeper endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. It is one of the most beautiful red-headed birds in Hawaii and is frequently seen on the islands of Hawaiʻi, Maui, Lānaʻi, Kauaʻi, Molokaʻi, and Oʻahu. The body length of Apapane is upto 13 cm and the average wieght is upto 14.4-17 grams. The bird species primarily feed on nectar and a variety of insects. The avarage lifespan of apapane is upto 6.4 years in the wild.
