The tufted duck also known as the tufted pochard is a small diving duck species that belongs to the family Anatidae. The body length of the duck is between 40 to 47 cm in length and the avarage widget is between 560 to 1000 grams. The scientific name of the tufted Duck is Aythya fuligula which is derived from the Ancient Greek aithuia which is an unidentified bird mentioned by authors including Hesychius and Aristotle. The adult males are all black in color except for white flanks along with a blue-grey bill with gold-yellow eyes and thin crests on the back of their heads. The avarage lifespan of a tufted duck is upto 4 years in the wild.

The Common eider is a large duck species mostly seen in the regions of northern coasts of Europe, North America, and eastern Siberia. Common Eider is the largest duck found in Europe with a total wingspan between 8- to 10 cm in length. The ring-necked duck is one of the white ducks with black heads commonly seen in freshwater ponds and lakes. The body length is between 39 to 46 cm in length and the average weight is between 490 to 910 grams. Talking about their appearance, they have two white rings surrounding their gray bill along with a shiny black angular head and white line on the wings. The eyes are yellow with a white breast and grayish-blue feet. The dietary habits of ring-necked ducks are omnivorous in nature and feed on aquatic plants such as pondweed, coontail, wild rice, leaves, stems, water lilies, algae, and sedges.
5. White-winged Scoter
The white-winged scoter is a large sea duck derived from the Ancient Greek melas “black” and netta “duck”. The body length is upto 21 inches and the average weight is up to 3.7 lbs. White-winged Scoter is also the largest and most known of the three species of Scoter. The male species of duck is black and has a crescent-shaped white patch that goes through the eye along with a large orange bill and black nasal knob. The primary diet consists of Mollusks, crustaceans, insects, occasionally fish, and aquatic plants. The avarage lifespan of white-winged scoter is upto 12 years.

6. Barrow’s Goldeneye
The Barrow’s goldeneye is a medium size duck species that belongs to the genus Bucephala and the family Anatidae. The body length is between 43 to 48 cm in length and the average weight is between 480 to 1320 grams. The bird was named after Sir John Barrow and the adult looks similar to the common goldeneye. The primary diet includes insect larvae, especially of damselfly, dragonfly, mayfly, caddisfly, water boatman, and backswimmer species. The avarage lifespan of Barrow’s goldeneye is upto 15 years in the wild.

The lesser scaup is a small North American diving duck mostly seen in North American and South American continents. The body length is between 39.1 to 45.1 cm in length and the avarage weight is between 600 to 1200 grams. The diet of Lesser scaup includes mollusks, insects, and crustaceans, but they also eat aquatic plants and seeds. The avarage lifespan of lesser scaup is upto 15 years in the wild and up to 20 years in captivity.

The Common Goldeneye is a Japanese bird that mostly breeds in the northern boreal forests of North America and Siberia. The body length is upto 18.5 inches in length and the average weight is upto 1.9 lbs. The total wingspan is upto 26 inches.
Talking about its appearance, the male Bufflehead is smaller along with a larger white patch on the back of the head and at the base of the bill. The bird species is identical to the Common Goldeneye and rare in Tennessee. The primary diet includes aquatic invertebrates, and occasionally small fish and vegetation. The Pomeranian duck is a medium size bird species originating in Germany as it was developed in Pomerania, a baltic sea coast region in Germany. It is also known as Pommern and Pommernente in German and is fairy social and chatty. They are one of the smallest breeds of domesticated ducks and their avarage weight is between 1.2 to 1.6 kilograms. The primary diet consists of grains, vegetables, and fruits, and access to fresh water. They have a long lifespan and can live between 10 to 12 years.

10. Swedish Blue Duck
The Swedish Blue Duck is a medium size bird with an average weight between 6.5 to 8 lbs. Talking about its appearance, it has an oval black head along with a medium-length bill and stocky body with a carriage approximately 20 degrees above horizontal. It wad originated in the Pomerania which is a part of Sweden back in 1835. The duck species was first imported to the United States in 1884 and accepted into the American Poultry Association’s Standard of Perfection in 1904. The primary diet consists of bugs, insects, and plant matter. The avarage lifespan of a Swedish Blue Duck is between 8 to 12 years.
