1. Killer Whale (Orcinus orca)

Killer whale is a toothed whale apex predator that belongs to the oceanic dolphin family. The whale species can be identified with the help of its black-and-white pattern of color.  Apart from this, they also have a white chest, black backs, and white circles above and behind their eyes. It is said that they can communicate vocally with each other and have their accents unique to the ‘pod’ they are from. The avarage life expectancy of a wild killer whale is as long as 90 years for females and it will go upto 60 years for males, however for captive killer whales are at best 30 years.

2. Sperm Whale (Physeter macrocephalus)

Sperm Whale is one of the strongest sea animals that can be seen in all oceans of the world. The population of sperm whales can be divided into groups that inhabit the north and south hemispheres. Sperm whales are one of the fishes with big foreheads that can grow between 49 to 50 feet in length and weigh between 35 and 45 tons. These animals with big noses are named because of the organ located in their heads known as spermaceti. Sperm whales have between 18 to 30 conical teeth in their tiny lower jaw and are hence listed as one of the fishes with the biggest teeth in the world. The avarage lifespan of sperm whales is between 50 to 70 years in the wild.

3. Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias)

Great White Shark is one of the different types of sharks in the world, however, they are one of the most popular 400 known shark species. Talking about the appearance, the back side of the body is dark in color and the bellies are completely white. The specific coloration gives them excellent camouflage that prevents prey from seeing the shark. They have specific electro-receptors that help them to detect the electric field of all animals in the water.  The avarage lifespan of a great white shark is upto 60 years in the wild.

4. Manta Ray (Manta birostris)

The Manta ray is a marine fish that belongs to the family of eagle rays. They are mostly seen in the tropical and subtropical parts of the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic Oceans.  The wingspan size is between 18 to 23 feet and the average weight is up to 3,000 pounds. It is also known as the “devil ray” due to cephalic fins that look like horns. The avarage lifespan of manta rays is up to 50 years in the wild. The natural enemies of the manta ray include large sharks and killer whales.

Blue whale is the largest animal on the planet and can be found in all oceans in the world. It is believed that they have existed on the planet for 54 million years, however, the population has decreased drastically in the first half of the 20th century because of ocean pollution, increased sea traffic, climate changes, and oil spills. They can read upto 100 feet in length and 150 tons in weight. It is also one of the loudest animals on the planet and thier song can be heard miles away because their call has 190 decibels (peak of the rock music is 150 decibels). The avarage lifespan of blue whales is between 80 to 90 years in the wild.

6. Giant Squid (Architeuthis dux)

The giant squid is the largest of all squid species and the largest invertebrate on the planet Earth. As of now, the species has been discovered in the Northern part of the Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, the Northern part of the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Japan, the Bering Sea, Hawaii, California, and in the southern oceans, however, it is believed that it is seen in all oceans of the world. The primary diet consists of other squids, fish, and shrimp. There are instances in which giant squid can attack and eat small whales. The avarage lifespan of giant squid is not so long, however, females die immediately after spawning, at the age of three years.

7. Saltwater Crocodile (Crocodylus porosus)

Saltwater Crocodile is the largest crocodile in the world that grows upto 7.0 meters (23.0 feet) in length and weighs up to 1,200 kilograms (2,600 pounds). This is one of the deadliest predators for more than 100 million years mostly seen across the wetlands and areas in north Australia, including Kakadu, Broome, and the top end of the Northern Territory. They have upto 68 sharp teeth and can put two tonnes of pressure with a single bite. They can go upto reach speeds of 10km per hour in water and can run on land up to 11km in a short span.

8. Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaeangliae)

Humpback Whale is a type of whale that can be easily recognized with the help of their size, large flippers, and ability to produce beautiful songs.  These animals without necks are very large animals that can grow upto 40 to 50 feet in length and weighs upto weigh up to 48 tons which equals the weight of 4 adult elephants. The name “humpback” originates from the hump on the back that is easily visible when performing acrobatics on the water surface. The avarage lifspan of whales live between 45 to 50 years in the wild. It is one of the animals that travel the farthest in the world.

9. Elephant Seal (Mirounga)

Elephant Seal is one of the strongest sea animals that belongs to the family of true (earless) seals. These animals with big lips that can reach between 10 to 20 feet in length and the average weight is between 2000 to 8800 pounds of weight. Talking about appearance, they can be grey, light or dark brown, or tan colored depending on the age, gender, and season. The natural enemies of the species consist of killer whales, large sharks, and humans and the mating season takes place during the winter.

10. Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus)

Bottlenose Dolphin is one of the gray animals that belong to the family Delphinidae. The body length can grow upto between 6 to 13 feet in length and the average weight is between 300 to 1400 pounds. The dolphin species uses echolocation to find food and avoid obstacles in the water.  The primary diet includes fish, crustaceans, and squids. The avarage lifespan of a Bottlenose dolphin can go upto 40 years in the wild. The unique feature is that it sleeps with only one-half of its brain at rest to prevent drowning. It is one of the strongest sea animals in the world.
