Spiders are the most common animals found everywhere in the world. Spiders are scary and no one wants them in the house. But, in reality, spiders are good things to have as they cause no harm and help to get rid of bugs.  Here I am presenting a list of the 10 scary spiders.

New World Tarantula can grow as long as 4.5 to 11 inches and weigh 28 to 85 grams. It is found in grasslands, forests, caves, deserts, and trees all over the world except Antarctica. It is blue, green, red, brown, or black with a life expectancy of 40 years. Tarantula is a large colorful and hairy spider with more than 1000 species. It has long legs, a big head, and eight eyes. Its too-powerful fangs help to kill the prey. It feeds on a variety of insects like grasshoppers, snakes, lizards, caterpillars, and beetles. Its venom is not that harmful to kill a person.

2. Widow spider

Widow spider can grow as long as 0.5 to 0.6 inches and weighs 0.85 grams. It is found in temperate regions of North America and parts of Asia. It has shiny, black skin and red hourglass markings under the abdomen. It is a lethal spider and only one bite carries enough venom to cause fever, swelling, and chest pain. It feeds on flies, beetles, mosquitoes, grasshoppers, and caterpillars. A female spider can even eat its partner to fulfill its hunger and that is why it is known as a widow spider.

Jumping spiders is one of the fluffy animals that can grow as long as 0.04 to 0.98 inches. These animals jump and are found in mountain regions and temperate forests of the United States and Florida. The lifespan of a jumping spider is about 1 to 2 years. It is generally black, and grey with white, blue, red, and yellow markings. It can be easily identified by its fascinating 8 sets of eyes. The Huntsman spider is 0.7 inches long with a leg span of 5.9 inches. It is found in shades of brown or grey with a life expectancy of 2 to 3 years. It is seen in tropical and semi-tropical regions of Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. It is large, hairy, and has white and black markings on its body. Its crab-like legs extend in front of the body and make it look dangerous. It feeds on insects like cockroaches, flies, mosquitoes, and lizards. Its venom causes pain and swelling.

Yellow sac spider can grow as long as 5 to 10 mm and is found in households, trees, wood, leaves, and shrubs in the United States, Mexico, the West Indies, and parts of North and South America. It is light yellow to pale green with a life expectancy of 1-2 years. Like other spiders, its body is also divided into two segments-Cephalothoraxes and Abdomen. Its eight eyes are distributed in two rows on each side. Its venom is extremely dangerous and causes mild pain and discomfort which lasts for a week or two. It feeds on small spiders and insects.

Hobo spider can grow as long as 0.16 to 0.33 inches and weighs 1 to 10 mg. It is found in urban and agricultural regions of Europe, America, and Central Asia. It is brown and has a life expectancy of 1 year. This small-sized spider has a light yellow spotted area along the sternum. Its long hairy legs create a funnel web and a V-shaped pattern can be seen on the top of the abdomen. It eats beetles, insects, cockroaches, and flies. Its bite may or may not cause ill effects on the human body.

The brown recluse spider can grow as long as 0.25 to 0.75 inches and weighs 0.001 lb. It is brown, tan, and blackish brown with a life expectancy of 1 to 2 years. It is found in the house and woods of the United States and Texas. It can play dead when threatened and can rescue itself. It has distinctive markings on its dorsal side and has three pairs of eyes.

Its neck has violin-shaped markings and so they are also known as violin spiders. It eat soft-bodied insects like flies, moths, and cockroaches and eats one another as well. Its venom is highly poisonous and can cause severe injury and harm like redness, ulcers, and swelling to humans as well as animals.

Wolf spiders can grow as long as 0.2 to 1.3 inches. It is grey or dark brown with yellow markings found in plains, forests, households,s, and deserts all around the world except Antarctica. The life expectancy of wolf spiders is considered to be 18 months. It is a fussy spider with 8 eyes present in three rows of which two eyes are larger. Its eyes give it a scary look. The funnel-web spider can grow as long as 0.4 to 2 inches and is found in the moist forests of Australia. It is called a funnel web spider because of the presence of a funnel-shaped burrow which it uses for hunting and preying. It has a shiny head and thorax and resembles a tarantula.

Its eyes are closely grouped and have fine velvety hair over the abdomen. Fangs of funnel-web spiders are large and can penetrate human fingernails. It feeds on frogs, beetles, snails, cockroaches, and lizards. It is extremely injurious to humans and can be fatal as it carries a large amount of venom.

It has brown or grayish hair and is found in forests of Northern South America and has a life expectancy of 1-2 years. it has bands of white or yellow on the front legs, red hair is present on the venom glands and the ventral side of the abdomen has several black dots.

It nourishes a variety of insects, spiders, and reptiles. It is the world’s deadliest spider as its venom contains proteins and peptides that act as a potent neurotoxin. The Goliath bird-eating spider is also known as the Goliath tarantula, or Goliath bird-eating spider, however, they prey and eat birds. They are mostly seen in the regions of Northern South America and love to thrive in rainforest trees in burrows. The average lifespan of a Goliath bird-eating spider is upto 40 years in the wild. The primary diet includes insects, arachnids, worms, and small vertebrates. The natural predator includes spider wasps, large birds, and humans.

12. Giant camel spider

The Giant camel spider is one of the scary spiders and solitary animals, however, the. Meet during the breeding season. The female species slays eggs between 50 to 200 eggs depending on the camel spider’s size and remains in the burrow with them until they hatch unless she doesn’t store enough fat and starves. The nocturnal hunters avoid going out during the day because of the intense heat. They are not venomous, however, and their bite is very painful.

The Six-eyed sand spider is one such scary spider that can survive without food for over a year. They are thriving in deserts and hot, dry climates throughout Southern Africa.  The name of the spider species comes from the six eyes in three pairs on their head.  The spider species are known hunters who ambush their prey and use their large, powerful fangs to inject their venom and subdue them. The natural predators include lizards, snakes, and birds. These black animals prey on insects, scorpions, and small mammals. The avarage lifespan of a Six-eyed sand spider is upto 15 years in the wild.
