The body length is upto 1.75 m and also preys on frogs, lizards, and other snakes.

Mangrove Pit Viper also known as Trimeresurus purpureomaculatus is a venomous pit viper snake native to India, Bangladesh, and Southeast Asia. The other names of snake species include mangrove pit viper, mangrove viper, and shore pit viper. The adult male species can grow upto 66.5 centimeters, however. Females species can grow up to 90 centimeters. The maximum tale length of male species is 12.5 centimeters and for females it’s 14 centimeters respectively. The primary diet includes frogs, lizards, and small mammals.

The snake species is mostly seen in the regions of South Africa, from Gauteng and Mpumalanga southwards through the KwaZulu-Natal lowlands to Durban, and prefers altitudes of 400 and 1,500 m above sea level. They have sexual reproduction and down in Afrotropics. The Natal Purple-Glossed Snake can be identified with the help of a thick body along with a blunt head and habit of burrowing beneath the surface. The avarage lifespan of a natal purple-glossed snake is upto 20 years.

Western Purple-Glossed Snake also known as the western glossy snake or Amblyodipsas unicolor is a species of rear-fanged snake that belongs to the family Atractaspididae. The snake species is endemic to Africa. And especially seen in the regions of Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Niger, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda. The is a venomous snake whose venom can lethal to small animals. However, it is considered harmless to humans. The body length is upto 36.5 cm and the tail length is upto 27 mm (1.1 in) long. The primary diet includes mice and geckos.

The species is distributed across South Africa, along the regions of Mpumalanga and northern KwaZulu-Natal. The body is dark brown along with ventrally white, including the chin and tail, with a dark brown stripe down the middle of the belly. The body length of snake species is upto 30 cm and the tail length is upto 24 mm.

Katanga Purple-Glossed Snake also known as Amblyodipsas katangensis is a species of rear-fanged venomous snake that belongs to the family Lamprophiidae. The snake species is endemic to Africa. As f now, two subspecies are recognized as being valid, including the nominotypical subspecies. The snake species is seen in the regions of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia. One of the sub-species names ionidesi was in honor of British game warden Constantine John Philip Ionides (1901–1968), who was known as the “Snake Man of British East Africa”.

Rodhain’s Purple-Glossed Snake also known as Amblyodipsas odhani is a species of snake that belongs to the family African nocturnal snakes. They are seen in Afrotropics and have sexual reproduction. The snake species is seen in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The name of the snake species rodhaini, and the common name is in honor of Belgian physician and zoologist Jérome Alphonse Hubert Rodhain (1876–1956). The production of snake species is oviparous.

The snake species is endemic to northern Tanzania. Talking about its appearance, the snake is black dorsally along with white ventrally, and is also colored white on the upper lip, and on three lower rows of dorsal scales on each side. The adult snake species is grow upto a length of 47 cm and its tail length is upto 3 cm long.

The Kalahari purple-glossed snake also known as Amblyodipsas ventrimaculata, is a venomous rear-fanged snake that belongs to the family of Atractaspididae. The snake species is endemic to Namibia, Botswana, northern Zimbabwe, and western Zambia. There are two specimens of this species have also been found near Vaalwater in the Waterberg district of Limpopo, South Africa.
