1. Cheetah 

The cheetah is approximately 2-2.7 feet long and weighs 77-143 pounds. It has standard life anticipation of 14 years. The cheetah is the fastest mammal on land which can cover a distance of 120 km/hr. Cheetah is prominent for its skin covered with black spots and these spots are positioned in a distinctive mode.  It is also one of the most sneaky animals in the world.

The cheetah has a brilliant vision which makes it effortless to find the quarry during the day. It entails about half an hour to hold its breath after catching its prey. It nourishes deer, calves, hares, and other jungle animals. Cheetah is found all over grasslands, all across Asia and Africa. Cheetah generally gives birth to 4 to 6 cubs and it resides with their mom for approximately 16 months.

3. Cuttlefish

The cuttlefish is one of the amazing aquatic animals that start with C and belongs to the group of Cephalopods. As of now, 100 species of cuttlefish are known to humans and love to thrive in shallow and tropical waters across the world. It can grow upto 6 to 20 inches in length, howvever, the largest known species weighs 23 pounds. The animal species is known for changing the colors, texture, and pattern of the skin on the body with the help of millions of pigment cells that are connected to the muscles in the skin. The average lifespan of the species is 1 to 3 years in the wild.

4. Cassowaries

It is the most hazardous bird alive in the world. Cassowary comes after ostrich in size. But the attack of the cassowary is more dreadful than an ostrich. Their powerful legs and sharp claws are their chief weapons. With only a solitary kick they can rupture the bones of humans. Once the cassowary is antagonistic it bounds over the prey and attacks in both forward and backward directions. Their attack can even root the death of the victim.

5. Comet Moth

The comet moth grows around 7.9 inches and is found in the rainforests of Madagascar. It has a life expectancy of only 4 to 6 days. It is a beautiful and exclusive Madagascan moon’s largest silk moth in the world. It is known for its special cocoon and silk structure. Its wing is divided into two parts with a base yellow color having brown spots.

Two antennae can be seen on top of its head. It goes through a four-step life cycle-hatching from legs as larvae, feeding as caterpillars, forming a cocoon over the body, and finally an adult moth. It feeds on leaves and plants of the cashew family.

6. Chipmunks

Chipmunk grows about 4 to 7 inches long and weighs 28 to 142 grams. It is grey to reddish-brown and found on trees, tunnels, and bushes in North America with a life expectancy of 6 to 10 years. it is a small furry animal with white strips on its back and head and can be easily identified with these strips. It nourishes nuts, berries, grains, seeds, insects, and bird eggs. One of the amazing winter animals hibernates but it does not sleep all the time. It wakes up every few days and raises its body temperature to normal, feeds on the stored food, and then again goes to sleep.

7. Chinchilla

Chinchilla has a body length of 9 to 15 inches and a tail length of 3 to 6 inches weighing 453 to 907 grams. It has a life span of 0 to 20 years. It is grey-white and found in human households, hills, coastal regions, and mountains all over the globe. Its small body is covered with a thick, soft fur coat and around 50 hairs can grow from a single hair follicle. The short rounded velvety sears make it look super cute and its glossy black eyes add beauty to it. It is an herbivore animal feeding on grasses, leaves, and vegetation.

8. Chow Chow

Chow chow is one of the cutest dogs growing 17 to 20 inches tall, weighing 23 to 34 kg with an average life expectancy of 11-13 years. It is most popularly found in homes in Northern China. It is a strong-built, medium-sized, and muscular dog breed having straight hind legs which give it a square appearance.

It has a brown thick coat of fur, almond-shaped eyes, and a curly tail. It is as cute as a teddy bear and can be easily identified by the blue-black color of its tongue. This thick-coated furry dog needs high calcium and low protein diet for bone and muscle development.

9. Cinnamon bear

The cinnamon bear can grow around 3 feet tall and weighs 91 to 272 kg. It is found in the lowlands and mountains of North America with a life expectancy of 30 years. It is the subspecies of black bears and is known as a cinnamon bear because of its thick coat of reddish brown fur. It is generally black, brown, cinnamon, and white. It nourishes sticks, roots, berries, plants, insects, and bees.

10. Chinese Pangolin

Chinese Pangolin is about 1-3 feet long and weighs 1-2 kg. It is light to yellowish brown and olive to dark brown. It is found in the grasslands, forests, and deserts of China, India, Asia, and Africa. Pangolin is thought to be a reptile, but it is a mammal that is covered with scales that help it to protect itself from predators. Its scales are quite sharp which can cause injury to predators. It can roll itself in a ball during its resting time and looks very astonishing. Due to its incredible look, it is one of the most poached mammals in the world.

11. Camel

Camels are one of the unique looks animals popular for their humps. They are mostly seen in the desert areas of Africa and Asia. There are two species of camels one is Dromedary which has one hump and the other one is the Bactrian which has wo humps.  The size of a camel ranges upto 7 feet in height and the average weight is up to 1500 pounds. Camel can survive without food and water for long periods and time they can lose 20-25% water without becoming dehydrated lose of 20-25% water without becoming dehydrated, whereas normal mammals can die if they lose 15% of their water. The avarage lifespan of the camel is between 40 to 50 years.

12. Caterpillar

Caterpillar is one of the amazing animals that start with C is an insect in the larva stage of members of the Order Lepidoptera. Caterpillar spends most of its time eating and has up to 4,000 muscles in its body. The head capsules have over 248 different muscles and each body segment is controlled by up to 70 muscles. Caterpillars are among the few creatures that exist without lungs.

13. Centipede

Centipedes are small invertebrates that belong to the group of arthropods. They have a long and segmented body and depending on the species can reach between  0.1 to 11 inches in length. The body has been covered with a flexible shell that can be of white, yellow, orange, red, brown, or black. They are the oldest group of animals in the world and are believed to have existed 430 million years ago. It prefers to spend most of its life hidden under rocks, leaves, or inside rotting wood. The main predators include birds, snakes, frogs, and mammals such as mongooses, mice, and shrews.

14. Chameleon

Chameleon is a type of lizard that is mostly found in Madagascar (half of all species live there), in Africa, southern Europe, south Asia, and Sri Lanka.  They vary in size and the smallest known chameleon is  Brookesia micra which can reach upto 0.6 inches in length and the biggest chameleon is Furcifer oustaleti which reaches upto 30 inches in length. The animal species has unique eyes that move separately from each other and achieve a visual field of 180 degrees.  The avarage lifespan of more than 10 years in captivity.

15. Cow

The cow is a large ungulate animal that belongs to the Bovidae family. One of the most popular farm animals in the world can reach upto 8.5 feet in length including the tail and around 1200 pounds of weight. The animal species has a large head along with big eyes and flexible ears that can move in all directions. The dietary habits are herbivores in nature and clover and grass are its favorite type of food. It consumes between 40 to 100 pounds of food per day and drinks 30 to 50 gallons of water.  The avarage lifespan of a cow is more than 20 years, however, it usually lives much shorter.

16. Crab

The crab is one of the animals that start with C which belongs to the crustacean family. There are many different types of crabs, however, 4500 species of crabs are known in the wild and prefer to thrive in the coastal areas of salty, fresh, or brackish water (a mix of fresh and salty water). The species vary in size where the smallest known crab is Pea Crab which can reach between 0.27 to 0.47 in length and the largest species of crab is the Japanese Spider Crab which has a leg span of 12 feet (from claw to claw). The avarage lifespan of a crab is between 3 and 4 years.
